Coca-Cola to be booted out of Bolivia. 47673.jpeg

Coca-Cola, one of the planet's giant corporations, is to be unceremoniously booted out of Bolivia. The announcement was made by Bolivian Minister of External Affairs, David Choquehuanca, who stated that the date chosen, December 21, coincides with the end of the cycle in the Mayan Calendar, the end of capitalism and the start of a culture of life.

Coca Cola will be expelled from Bolivia on the date that the Mayan calendar enters a new cycle - December 21. According to the Bolivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Choquehuanca, the decision was taken to expel Coca Cola on the date of the end of the Mayan calendar so as to create a pretext for celebrating the end of capitalism and the beginning of "the culture of life" in community-based societies. The celebration will take place at the Southern Hemisphere's Summer Solstice on La Isla del Sol (Sun Isle) in Lake Titicaca.

"The twenty-first of December 2012 is the end of selfishness, of division. The twenty-first of December has to be the end of Coca Cola and the beginning of mocochinche (a local refreshing drink)," said the Foreign Minister at a political rally for Evo Morales. "The planets will line up after 26,000 years...it is the end of capitalism and the beginning of communitarianism," he added......Read all

Microsoft's online message, phone and video chat service Skype has denied making changes to its system "in order to provide law officers greater access" to its members' conversations.

It follows reports suggesting infrastructure upgrades had made it easier to hand on users' chat data.

Skype has now posted a blog saying the changes were made solely to improve user experience and reliability.

But it added it would pass on messages to law enforcement when "appropriate".

'Wiretap' patent

Concern about Microsoft's intentions were first raised over a year ago after the Conceivablytech blog revealed the firm had filed a US patent for Legal Intercept - a technology "capable of silently copying the communication between at least two entities" on Voip (voice over internet protocol) calls.

It specifically made reference to "Skype and Skype-like applications" despite being filed in 2009, 17 months before Microsoft paid $8.5bn (£5.4bn) to take over the service......Read all

If tired WMD lies won’t convince the public to back foreign intervention, perhaps recycled lies from Libya?

The Telegraph has reported (emphasis added), "fighter jets have reportedly launched bomb attacks on Syria’s second city of Aleppo, which, if confirmed, would be the first time Assad forces had used war planes against citizens."

Image: A sole"tweet" from BBC’s Ian Pannell, who has yet to provide any source, evidence, or details regarding his vague claim, immediately made headlines across the Western media. .....Read Article

Is a Computer Worm Causing Iranian Nuclear Facilities to Blast AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck' At Night?

Heavy metal has been weaponzied. At least that's the claim by a computer security researcher who says an Iranian nuclear scientist emailed him to say he and his fellow scientists were under attack by involuntary blasts of AC/DC, sparked by computer malware.

Mikko Hypponen, lead researcher at the Finnish computer security firm F-Secure, says he received "a series of emails from Iran" this weekend about a new rockin' cyber attack on nuclear research facilities there. He posted the text of one email to his blog:

I am writing you to inform you that our nuclear program has once again been compromised and attacked by a new worm with exploits which have shut down our automation network at Natanz and another facility Fordo near Qom.

According to the email our cyber experts sent to our teams, they believe a hacker tool Metasploit was used. The hackers had access to our VPN. The automation network and Siemens hardware were attacked and shut down. I only know very little about these cyber issues as I am scientist not a computer expert.

There was also some music playing randomly on several of the workstations during the middle of the night with the volume maxed out. I believe it was playing 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC.........Read All

Birgitta Jonsdottir - Financial & Political Update from Iceland

E-mail Print PDF

July 22, 2012 Birgitta Jonsdottir is a member of the Althing, the Icelandic parliament. Her district is the Reykjavík South Constituency. She was elected to the Icelandic parliament in April 2009 on behalf of a movement aiming for democratic reform beyond party politics of left and right, called "The Movement." Birgitta is a poet and has been an activist and a spokesperson for various groups, such as Wikileaks and Saving Iceland. She also acts as a spokeswoman for the Icelandic Modern Media Initiative. She returns to discuss the misconceptions surrounding the alleged debt forgiveness in Iceland. We'll address truth vs. rumor regarding the economy and democracy in Iceland. Ever since the Icesave dispute in 2008, Iceland's economy has been in shambles. In the recent year or so, it has somewhat managed to get back on its feet. Jonsdottir says Iceland's aspirations of joining the EU are low considering the shape the Eurozone is in. Birgitta argues that although some things have improved in Iceland, many from the "Icelandic financial mafia" are still in high corporate and political positions in Iceland. We also discuss what is true when it comes to how the citizens of Iceland participated in writing their new constitution, online.

E-mail Print PDF

A top economist at the International Monetary Fund has poured scorn on its "tainted" leadership and said he is "ashamed" to have worked there.Peter Doyle said in a letter to the IMF executive board that he wanted to explain his resignation after 20 years. He writes of "incompetence", "failings" and "disastrous" appointments for the IMF’s managing director, stretching back 10 years.

Peter Doyle claims there was a "fundamental illegitimacy" in Christine Lagarde’s appointment

No one from the Washington-based IMF was immediately available for comment.

Mr Doyle, former adviser to the IMF’s European Department, which is running the bailout programs for Greece, Portugal and Ireland, said the Fund’s delay in warning about the urgency of the global financial crisis was a failure of the "first order".

In the letter, dated 18 June and obtained by the US broadcaster CNN, Mr Doyle said the failings of IMF surveillance of the financial crisis "are, if anything, becoming more deeply entrenched". .....Read more

ANONYMOUS has officially declared a war on terror by holding hostage Middle Eastern bank accounts.

It is threatening to unleash "global internet destruction" unless the Dahabshiil bank in the Middle East admits to financing terrorist groups. The hacking group has published thousands of bank account names and numbers and is threatening to destroy the bank's electronic systems if it does not publicly acknowledge that it has helped to support terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab."We officially declare War on Terror," the group wrote on tech blog, Slashdot."This is a call for actions of monitoring and/or destruction of companies and institutions that do work with terrorists, rogue countries, etc."In the announcement, the group claimed it is not a terrorist organisation and that it was just "fed up with the fact our society is loosing (sic) time".The group said that WikiLeaks documents had revealed that the Dahabshiil bank had provided direct financial support to al-Qaeda, Al Wafa and other terrorist organisations. It posted documents on Google Plus that highlighted associations with other banking networks including Barclay's in the UK and Ernst & Young in the US.Anonymous claims to have stolen documents from and destroyed "work stations" in Australia, Kenya, USA, UK, Sweden, Somalia and Dubai. Russia, China veto western-backed Syria resolution at UN Security Council

Russia, China veto western-backed Syria resolution at UN Security Council

Russia and China have vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution that threatened Syria with more sanctions.

It was the third time in nine months that Russia and China used their powers as permanent members of the 15-nation council to block resolutions on Syria. There were 11 votes in favor of the resolution. Russia and China voted against it, while South Africa and Pakistan abstained from voting.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague, who drafted the resolution, earlier said the worsening crisis confirmed "the urgent need for a Chapter 7 resolution of the UN Security Council on Syria".

Chapter 7 allows the 15-member council to authorize actions ranging from diplomatic and economic sanctions to military intervention. US officials have said they are talking about sanctions on Syria, not military intervention, but Russia and China strongly believe allowing such a resolution to pass could create a repeat of the so-called "Libya scenario".

Up next for debate is a Russia-backed resolution that  calls for a 3-month extension for the UN observer mission in Syria, whose mandate expires on Friday.Source
